i-Transport Lab is a research company built to put research into practice. We combine expertise in transportation and urban engineering with simulation engines developed entirely in-house, and we keep creating technology that is genuinely useful to the people and organisations who shape cities.

    Traffic simulation reproduces the flow of vehicles across road networks and through intersections inside a computer.

    People-flow simulation models how individuals move and how crowds behave, reproducing the movement of people through a space.

    Urban activity simulation reproduces the daily activities of the people who live in a city, together with the travel and the demand those activities generate.

Three core solutions

We recreate urban activity in digital space. Our work rests on three foundations: traffic simulation, traffic data analysis, and traffic and people-flow sensing. With them we make increasingly complex transportation problems visible in scientific terms and carry them through to a solution.

Over 25 years of development on our own engines. From wide-area networks tens to hundreds of kilometres across, down to microscopic analysis of a single intersection. We support optimisation at every scale, from intersection design to region-wide transport planning.

Crowd and evacuation simulation

Certified by the Tokyo Fire Department. Built for evacuation safety planning and congestion management at event venues, commercial facilities and stations. Crowd behaviour is reproduced in detail, so facility safety can be designed on quantitative evidence.

People-flow sensing system

Real measurements make people-flow analysis far more accurate. Indoors or outdoors, we measure walking routes, dwell time and pedestrian counts in real time, then combine them with simulation to carry a design through to implementation.
